Julian Alvarez, destined for Manchester City, scored a rare double hat-trick in Tuesday night’s 8-1 Copa Libertadores (South American Champions League) triumph over Alianza Lima.
According to Sky Sports, the 22-year-old signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with City on Deadline Day in January. The Premier League club paid River Plate a fee in the region of £14 million for the young Argentine, who will join Pep Guardiola’s squad in the summer.
Alvarez, widely considered as one of the most talented young players in South America, became the first player in River Plate’s 121-year history to score six goals in a single game on Wednesday.
