Manchester United has excellent £67m Erling Haaland replacement for Erik ten Hag rebuild

United are looking for a centre-forward this summer and Darwin Nunez should be considered.
Manchester City are the frontrunners for Haaland’s signing. That’s bad news for United.

The world’s most wanted goal scorer. The prospect of him joining a Pep Guardiola squad already dominated by 85 goals is unpalatable to United fans. After a disastrous season, there was debate about Haaland at Old Trafford.

In March of last year, the Manchester Evening News reported that John Murtough had identified Haaland as a long-term priority for United. Haaland has earned the right to choose his next club, and you’d wonder about his mental health if it was United.

After 40 years without a trophy, Manchester United are once again lost and wandering. The club’s appeal and pull will always remain, but it would be foolish to imagine that will be enough to attract the world’s finest players.

Carrington does not meet Haaland’s criteria for a winning environment. United’s collapse means they can no longer compete for such transfers, as Ralf Rangnick outlined last week. United must focus on developing future stars, according to the interim coach, who will remain a consultant.

Carrington does not meet Haaland’s criteria for a winning environment. United’s collapse means they can no longer compete for such transfers, as Ralf Rangnick outlined last week. United must focus on developing future stars, according to the interim coach, who will remain a consultant.

Before moving from RB Salzburg to Dortmund, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested Haaland to United’s board. “In my opinion, the club should aim to uncover and develop future top stars,” Rangnick stated.

“I think the focus should be on trying to identify, find, and then convince people who could be Manchester United players for the next few of years,” Haaland said.

United blew it with Haaland, but they can learn from it. United must become a forward-thinking team in terms of recruitment, and Darwin Nunez of Benfica should be on their radar.

Nunez, a year older than Haaland, seems to be the ‘next Haaland’ in European football. Nunez’s rise at Benfica is reminiscent of Haaland’s at RB Salzburg, and his rising star has sparked transfer rumors.

Nunez has been linked to United as a striker. As a result of his 34 goals in 40 games this season, Nunez appears to be the ideal centre-forward for Erik ten Hag’s rebuilt. Nunez’s reported asking price is £70m, which seems fair for a player of his caliber.

Nunez’s spectacular record in front of goal comes from Portugal’s Primeira Liga, which has produced some world-class players in recent years.

Bruno Fernandes, Joao Felix, Ruben Dias, and Ederson come to mind, and Nunez might be the last. His stats this season show he has the talent.

It has been a better season for Nunez, who has scored more goals, dribbled the ball more successfully, and performed more successful attacking moves per 90 minutes than Haaland, and he appears to be physically prepared for the rigors of the Premier League this season. Nunez has the potential to be the ideal Haaland replacement.

The teenager still has many of his finest years ahead of him, and he is exactly the type of player that Manchester United should be looking for.
