In the midst of a season that has been largely disappointing, Manchester United midfielder Raphael Varane has announced who he will be voting for to be named the club’s player of the year.
In the wake of David de Gea’s outstanding efforts during a challenging season, Raphael Varane has endorsed him to be named Manchester United’s player of the season.
United’s year has been one to forget, as they have extended their trophy drought to five seasons and will also lose out on Champions League qualification.
The victory over Brentford on Monday was only United’s 16th in 36 Premier League games this season, and Varane is one of the few players to come away from the season with any sort of recognition.
Injuries have limited the World Cup champion to just 28 appearances this season, and the race for the club’s player of the season has now virtually become a two-horse fight between De Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the club’s website.
Varane’s vote will go to De Gea, who has put in a succession of excellent performances to protect United from more humiliation. Ronaldo, meantime, has scored 24 goals in 37 appearances since his return to Old Trafford, but Varane will give his support to his goalkeeper.
Erik ten Hag is warned by Juan Mata and Paul Pogba about an undesirable Man Utd theme.
According to a football agent Jesse Lingard is no longer wanted by West Ham United.
“David is having an outstanding campaign. He was quite helpful to us. I believe he has a lot of experience and is a fantastic goalie “he explained.
Varane believes that having only joined the club on the eve of the season, he will perform better now that he has had a chance to train with the team.
According to him, “I think I’ll need a whole pre-season to be fully fit, but I think next season will be better.” “I don’t think this season was particularly horrible, but we can always develop and perform better.”
United completed their season at Old Trafford with a victory over Brentford and will now conclude their campaign on the road with matches against Brighton and Crystal Palace.
