According to a football agent Jesse Lingard is no longer wanted by West Ham United. Jesse Lingard did not come on as a substitute in United’s 1-0 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Despite the fact that the 29-year-old is set to leave Manchester United when his contract ends in the summer, he was not given a chance to make a cameo appearance for the Red Devils in their final home game of the season.

With his brother Louie Scott raging on social media for not giving him a decent send-off, and other players who are poised to depart United getting some minutes against Brentford, the situation became even more complicated.

AC Milan and Juventus are reportedly leading the fight to sign Lingard on a free transfer in the summer, which means there may be an option for him to go from the United Kingdom to Italy in the near future.

Lingard is well aware that a move to a club where he can play more regular first team games can only aid his efforts to break into the England squad for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Many fans believe he will end up returning to West Ham after an impressive loan spell with the club last season, but football agent and Caught Offside columnist Rob Segal believes the Hammers have abandoned their pursuit of Lingard.

A recent post by Segal stated that “Jesse Lingard, the midfielder, will almost certainly quit the club.” There are no surprises here, but he’s in a state of uncertainty. What will he do next? West Ham does not require his services. They’ve moved on from the situation. Even if he is available on a free transfer, the club will not want to be saddled with his salaries, and they will not invest the money necessary to bring him back to the capital.”

If Lingard is truly committed to remaining in the Premier League, this might open the door for Newcastle United to make a move for him in the near future.
